Tour Description

Outstanding Productions is the official tour company for EASA’s 2008 convention. They have scheduled the following tour especially for you.

Saturday, June 21
10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Optional Tour: Dallas & the Sixth Floor Museum – Where were you when President John F. Kennedy was shot? Return to that exact moment and examine the historical events at the actual locations where the “Crime of the Century” was committed.

Your tour takes the form of an investigation, focusing on President Kennedy, alleged assassin Lee Harvey Oswald, and Dallas nightclub owner Jack Ruby, the lives of whom tragically converged in Dallas and forever changed the course of American history.
Your search for clues begins with a detailed walking tour through Dealey Plaza that reveals the precise locations of key witnesses. You’ll stand on the infamous “Grassy Knoll,” where Dallas resident Abraham Zapruder filmed his much-studied 8mm home movie of the president’s fateful motorcade, and which remains the focal point of every major investigation of the assassination.

Oliver Stone filmed much of his Academy-Award winning picture JFK in Dealey Plaza and the old Texas School Book Depository, your next stop. There you’ll visit The Sixth Floor Museum, which chronicles the Kennedy family, presidency and legacy in photographs, audio-visual displays and short films. The exhibit also preserves two important “crime scenes” exactly as they were discovered by law enforcement officials–the sniper’s window and the location where Oswald’s rifle was found.

During the tour, you’ll closely examine Lee Harvey Oswald–especially his movements immediately after the shooting in Dealey Plaza. You’ll also investigate the activities of Dallas nightclub owner Jack Ruby, the mysterious man who may have silenced the truth about the assassination forever when he shot Oswald on national television in the basement of the Dallas Police Station.

You’ll have time to discuss assassination theories and enjoy lunch “on your own” in the West End before touring the City of Dallas, including the Arts District, Fountain Place and Fair Park. (Travel to The Sixth Floor Museum takes about 30 minutes; arrival at hotel is about 3:00 p.m.; lunch is “on your own.”)

Price: $45.00 per person
