Head to Waco to see the famous Magnolia Market at the Silos, owned by HGTV stars Joanna and Chip Gaines. Stop at nationally recognized Ninfa’s for lunch and enjoy a special Fixer Upper driving tour! See many of the homes, shops (like Harp Design) and historical landmarks featured on the show (stopping for photos). Explore the Magnolia Market Silos, visit the Silos Bakery for a sweet treat, the gardens where the Magnolia Seed and Supply is found and the big green lawn where lawn games await you. Please note: Waco is a 90-minute drive from Fort Worth, so be sure to bring entertainment for the ride!

Stator Construction (from Principles of Medium & Large AC Motors)

This session will explain the components and working of a three-phase AC stator. Topics will include:

  • Stator core construction — Laminations, Coreplate, Frame, Geometry factors
  • Stator windings — Form coils, Random windings (turns, strands, coil pitch)
  • Connections — Wye versus delta, Parallel circuits - benefits and drawbacks
  • Insulation — Nomex, DMD, Slot liner, Phase insulation
  • Mechanical support — Lacing & bracing, Recommended methods to secure jumpers and leads
  • Varnish treatment methods — VPI, Dip & bake, Trickle epoxy methods

Winders, sales personnel, managers and engineers will benefit from this session.

Dallas Dazzles & JFK: Sixth Floor Museum
Enjoy a driving tour of Downtown Dallas, discovering famous sites like Pioneer Plaza, the bronze sculpture commemorating the Shawnee Trail and landmarks on Main Street including the flagship Neiman Marcus. Throughout the Arts District, observe stunning buildings and museums such as the Dallas Museum of Art, Nasher Sculpture Center, Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House and the Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre. Explore the famous Grassy Knoll at Dealey Plaza, the site of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Visit the Sixth Floor Museum, an exhibit examining his life, death and legacy. Head to Dealey Plaza to tour the President’s assassination site and see the actual motorcade route and placement of witnesses, including where the Zapruder film was made.

VogelUnderstanding Corrosion in Pumps

Corrosion is a chemical reaction that damages pump components. There are various types of corrosion and some are common on certain applications. Understanding the different types of corrosion and how to identify them will help service centers work with customers to eliminate them or mitigate the damage.

VogelTips & Tricks for Submersible Pump Repair

Submersible pumps, generally under 50 horsepower, comprise one of the most common pump-related machines that service centers encounter. 

Details of repairing these machines are covered in the Fundamentals of Pump Repair seminar. This session will cover some things that will  make the repairs more profitable. 

  • What’s special about submersible pumps? 
  • Key things to know about dual seals. 
  • Not so obvious disassembly procedures. 
  • Oil-filled configurations. 
  • Simple testing setups.

Vertical turbine pump motors are commonly repaired in EASA service centers, and high vibration often occur when proper installation procedures are neglected. Customers are quick to blame the motor repair. Service centers must be prepared to address the problem with knowledge of likely causes and corrections. This session will explain the installation steps that should be followed to avoid being blamed for high vibration problems.
